Visit the Castle of Monte Cristo

Nestled on the hillsides of Port-Marly, just a stone's throw from Paris, the Château de Monte-Cristo immerses you in the fascinating world of Alexandre Dumas.

The famous author of The Three Musketeers had this architectural gem built in 1844, at the height of his literary success.

Monte-Cristo, Alexandre Dumas's extraordinary home

A listed Historic Monument

Built according to Alexandre Dumas's wishes, the Château de Monte-Cristo is striking for its Renaissance style and its fully sculpted facades.

From the moment you arrive, you will be impressed by the elegance and exuberance of the place, which perfectly reflect Dumas's personality.

Inside, you can wander through the restored and furnished rooms where countless parties were held.

The monument stands at the heart of a three-hectare English garden featuring a grotto and ponds.

A little further on stands the "Château d'If," a castle surrounded by water where the writer would retreat for many hours to write.

Theatrical tours for the whole family

The Château de Monte-Cristo offers traditional guided tours, as well as theatrical tours.

Led by actors in period costume, these tours bring to life the characters and anecdotes that made Dumas famous.

These tours take place on the last Sunday of the month, from February to November, without reservation.

A rich program throughout the year

The Monte-Cristo estate hosts temporary exhibitions, conferences, concerts, and even literary events.

The permanent exhibition, of course, is dedicated to Alexandre Dumas and his theatrical and novelistic works.
